Egypt

In 1991 I was invited to join a team of documentarians and scientists who were “re-dating” the age of the Sphinx from the perspective of geology, rather than egyptology and archeology.   The documentary, with John Anthony West,  became the Emmy award winning “Mystery of the Sphinx” (for ‘best research’, it was also nominated for best doc).  I worked on the project for three years as a contributing producer as well as the project’s still photographer.

I thought it rather interesting that for several months prior to my joining this group,  I had been obsessively collecting big rocks and had built a rock  sculpture garden based around a ten foot pyramid frame I had.

Did I create the grand experience (and it was) in Egypt because I was playing around with rocks and pyramids,  or was there something in my deeper self that was already resonating with the possibility of being part of this project in Egypt, one which I had not heard of until “it” arrived at my door...   Or, merely co-incidence... The Sphinx Project was something that came knocking at my door, literally.   It was a great life experience and intriguing project to work on to say the least, and became my foundation  from which I was inspired to document “sacred and mysterious places” in other places around the world.
